Live Vaccines

CEVAC® MD RISPENS

TYPE

CEVAC MD RISPENS is a live virus vaccine containing serotype 1 (Rispens) Marek’s disease virus.  This Marek’s disease vaccine is presented in a frozen cell associated form.  This vaccine is recommended for in ovo administration to 18 to 19-day-old embryonated eggs and subcutaneous administration to day-old chicks as an aid in the prevention of very virulent Marek’s disease.  The vaccine is stored and shipped in frozen form in liquid nitrogen.

INDICATIONS

CEVAC MD RISPENS is recommended for use in 18 to 19-day-old embryonated chicken eggs and in healthy one-day-old chicks as an aid in the prevention of very virulent Marek’s disease.  Good management practices are recommended to reduce exposure to Marek’s disease virus for at least two weeks following vaccination.

ADMINISTRATION

Carefully read the directions before use.  Prior to use, the vaccine must be thawed and diluted appropriately with the sterile vaccine diluent as stated in the package insert.  Immediately after thawing, mix the vaccine with the diluent at room temperature.  Immediately use the vaccine and mix occasionally to ensure uniform suspension of cells.  For in ovo administration, embryos are inoculated with one full dose (0.05 ml or 0.1ml, depending on the injection equipment used) of vaccine.  Read the egg injection system operator’s manual before initiating vaccination.  Failure to follow instructions may result in personal injury, excessive embryonic mortality and low hatchability.  One-day-old chicks are subcutaneously vaccinated with 0.2 ml of vaccine in the back of the neck.

WARNING!

Be familiar with all safety and precautionary measures for handling liquid nitrogen to prevent personal injury.  Wear gloves, a plastic face shield and protective goggles before removing vaccine ampules from the liquid nitrogen.  Do not remove from liquid nitrogen until ready to use.  Do not refreeze the vaccine.  For veterinary use only.

LAYERMUNE® SE aids in the reduction of colonization by SE strains of: the internal organs, including the reproductive tract, the ovary and consequently the egg contents in the intestinal tract thereby reducing salmonella shed in the environment and egg shell contamination.
LAYERMUNE® SE has proven efficacy against all SE phage types including the highly invasive phage type 4.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE

LAYERMUNE® SE is administrated to chickens by the subcutaneous route under the skin on the back of the neck. The dose is 0.5 ml  per bird.

MULTIMUNE K5™

COMPOSITION

MULTIMUNE K5™ Contains five inactivated isolates of Pasteurella multocida including serotypes 1, 3, and 4, and 2 isolates of 3x4.  These isolates are typical of field strains that cause fowl cholera and were selected for their ability to stimulate strong, long-lasting immunity against fowl cholera infection in turkeys and chickens.  Because the organisms incorporated in MULTIMUNE K5 are inactivated, there is no risk that the antigens may revert to virulence or otherwise initiate vaccine-induced fowl cholera.  The bacterin is emulsified in an oil adjuvant.

INDICATIONS

MULTIMUNE K5 is recommended for use in healthy turkeys at least 18 weeks of age and chickens at least 12 weeks of age to help prevent fowl cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida infection.

ADMINISTRATION

For ease of administration and to prevent shock, Multimune K5 should be warmed to room temperature.  Subcutaneously administer 0.5 ml in the lower neck region of turkeys and chicks in a direction away from the head and parallel with the neck.  In turkeys, inject in the feathered area of the neck.  Do not inject into muscle or neck vertebrae.  For best results, give initial vaccination to chickens at least 12 weeks old and turkeys at least 18 weeks old and re-vaccinate at least three to four weeks later.  Turkeys may be re-vaccinated at three-four month intervals.

STORAGE

Store vaccine between +2°C and +8°C or 35°F and 45°F. Protect from light. Do not freeze
